Cutting into my yarn budget

posted Monday, 5 December 2005

Yesterday, I talked Howdy into going Christmas tree shopping.  He hasn't been in the Christmas spirit, either.  This is our second Christmas in this house.  Our last house had vaulted ceilings and we had a 14 foot artificial tree that I'd bought on clearance after Christmas at Hobby Lobby for $30.  This house only has 10 foot ceilings, so we got rid of that tree.  Last year, we broke down and bought a real tree, but when we went shopping this year, we were appalled at the prices for real trees.  It's pretty hard to conceive of spending $150 on something you know only has a useful life span of a month.  So, we ended up shopping for fake trees.  Did you know they call them "permanent trees" now?  I laughed about that.  This is the new permanent tree we have, all decorated.  It came with 8 function white and multicolored lights and a wireless remote control, which Daughter the Younger has enjoyed immensely already.  We needed another remote like we needed another mortgage.  Oh well, it's one thing that's completed for the season now.  Like my animated gif?  I spared you the midi files at least, LOL!

I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your Christmas music selections.  Keep them coming!  I've been hitting Amazon as I get a few minutes here and there, checking them out.  Big fun!

Hey, tomorrow's my birthday!  I'll be FORTY!  Yikes!  You can give me a present and stick a peg in my Frappr map if you haven't already done so.   I know at least half a dozen other people who turned 40 this year, too, 1965 must have been a great year for babies!

Love the tree lights. I think your new "permanent tree" is quite pretty. I, too, think "permanent tree" is a bit giggle-worthy.

Have a happy birthday!

Very fun gif! I'm already on your map but wanted to claim membership in the 1965 baby club. I'm exactly 1 month older than you! Have a happy one - and really, when it's a big one like 40, stretch it out and celebrate a Birthmonth, not just the day. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! for tomorrow. Love your tree. I have a confession to make, I don't have a tree, haven't had one for about five years now. As we don't spend Christmas at home & don't have any kids I haven't seen the need for one, but shhhh, don't tell anyone they'll think I'm a Scrooge.

I love your tree, we too got a new fake tree 6 feet tall with mostly new orniments. My 5yr old had a ball putting it up and so did I. Happy Birthday for today, it is 33 degrees celcius, we are melting. My Dh and best friend both turn 32 this week. Hope you have a lovely day.
