Trip to the fair

Howdy and I went to the State Fair of Texas on Saturday to see my socks...

I thought they were a little poorly displayed on a glass shelf, but I'm not complaining, since that nifty ribbon gets to come home with me in a couple of weeks!

Since we didn't have the daughter with us, we spent tons of time here looking around.  I took photos of our favorite quilts...  (click on them to open them in another window if you'd like to see them closer)

This one was Howdy's favorite, an enormous cathedral window style quilt.  I can't even imagine making something this big by hand.I was torn between two quilts.  This one did the Celtic bias binding look with different colors.  I thought it was really neat. This was the other one I liked, kind of a Baltimore Album quilt.  I liked the colors a lot, nice and vibrant instead of muted.

Other than some of the fairgoers, by far the weirdest thing we saw was Elvis, sculpted out of butter...

How'd you like to put that on your resumé?
